With this project, Accattone pursues its exploration of the boundary between exhibition and publication as tools to understand the processes at stake in architecture. The installation displays the artistic and architectural intervention inside the art house through the site photography of Bernard Boccara, Alain Janssens and Maud Faivre.
The building site is usually a hidden space, concealed from the public, understated in architecture exhibitions on the grounds of its technical, ‘dirty’ dimension. The installation is thus conceived as a reading machine to create non-compulsory narrative sequences. Crossing the book’s editorial device with that of the poster display rack, the size, movement and overlapping of the pages propose a spatial experience and time machine that send us back to the surrounding spaces of the art house.
A project by Accattone magazine (Ismaël Bennani, Sophie Dars, Orfée Grandhomme, Carlo Menon) in collaboration with Jean-Daniel Bourgeois, based on archival documents and photographs by Bernard Boccara, Alain Janssens, Pierre Toby, Maud Faivre. Commissioned and produced by Cellule.archi, Direction des infrastructures culturelles, Cinema Le Palace. Exhibition photography by Philippe Braquenier.
