VILLA THUNBERG
8 Feb — 15 Mar 2020
Villa Noailles, Hyères
planted model, 200 cm
2-sided poster, 100 x 70 cm
Re-exhibited at CIVA, Brussels, within the exhibition Institution Building, curated by Nikolaus Hirsch, Matylda Krzykowski and Cédric Libert, 14 Oct — 7 Nov 2021
Six architecture practices were invited to choose a ‘superstar’ and design a villa in the form of a model or an installation. Following-up from the themes explored in issue #6, Accattone and its team present a territorial, post-sedentary ‘villa’ – dedicated to the tutelary figure of Greta Thunberg – that confronts the changing climate regime through the human, plant and animal migrations it entails.
The research in progress is recorded in a poster that broadens the subject matter beyond the immediacy of the large, planted model.
A project by Accattone magazine (Ismaël Bennani, Sophie Dars, Orfée Grandhomme, Carlo Menon, Galaad Van Daele) in collaboration with architects Alice Nouvet, Alice Paris, Camille Pons and Plant & Houtgoed (Jeroen Deseyn, Nicolas Vandenplas).
Produced by Accattone, Plant & Houtgoed and Villa Noailles, with the generous support of Wallonie-Bruxelles Architectures, as part of the exhibition Houses for Superstars. Hypermediated Architecture, curated by Martinez Barat Lafore.
